Rock, Paper, Bush

Never under-estimate the power of boredom. The following is the result: a terrible attempt to rip off a hilarious web page. Oh boy. But where is Aziz?

Saddam:
Ok, Georgie, you ready this time? Let's see what you've got.

Bush:
Saddam, you know I'm going to ‘beat you down to Chinatown’, it's inedible.

Saddam:
What are you talking about? I've won the last 17 games in a row. And don't you mean "inevitable," George?

Bush:
Whatever, those were practice rounds. Let's play.

Saddam:
Alright, but you have to play with something other than just paper, OK? You’ve used paper every round since we started playing.

Bush:
I’ll smoke you out of your fox hole!

Saddam:
What? *Sigh* Alright George, whatever you say. Are you ready?
1…2…3!

Saddam:
Scissors.

Bush:
Paper.

Saddam:
Damnit, George. What’s wrong with you? I told you to stop using Paper.

Bush:
I will not stop until the people of Iraq have their freedom.

Saddam:
George, we’re playing a game of rock, paper, scissors. And what does paper have to do with Iraq, anyway? Do you even know what beats Paper in this game? Here, I’ll give you a hint: it’s not paper.

George:
Uh, how about two papers?

Saddam:
I invite you over for a friendly game, and all you do is make fun of me. It isn't two papers, George. Let's try this one more time. Ready?

Saddam:
Scissors!

George: Ahhhhhhh! Here comes... PAPER!!

Saddam:
I give up. How the hell did you ever manage to take over my country? At least your Father went with Scissors on occasion.

Bush Sr:
Take that, you paper loving bastard!

The other Oilers, and things completely unrelated

Before I embarked on my "trek" to Norway, my Mom made the effort to research the professional hockey situation in the lovely city of Stavanger. What she discovered is that Stavanger has a rather appropriately named hockey team - the Oilers (go figure). Being Canadian and all, I decided before I got here that I really wanted to go to as soon as I arrived. I proceeded to tell everyone in the office this, but of course, I never really did anything about it. Apparently I'm all talk. Until now, that is.

Out of the blue, two of my co-workers were given tickets to the game and invited me along. I can now claim to have been to a Stavanger Oilers game, and you know what? It wasn't half bad! As expected the pace was slower, and the hitting less intense, but the game was entertaining and the skill level higher than I had expected. That and I was able to yell at the refs, because they really were terrible.

Apparently Norwegians like hockey. Or at least they pretend to, just to humour me.

Stavanger is in White. The other team is dressed like a Christmas tree.

Awww, they even shake hands after the game. It's like Duffers, but with marginally better refs! (I'm kidding, I like Duffers! Please don't hit me again!)

So the countdown is on for my triumphant return to Canada. With my "thank God it's finally approved" visa firmly stamped in my passport, I will leave Stavanger in the wee hours of Friday morning morning for a 20+ hour voyage to the lovely Okanagan. If you haven't ever been to the Okanagan, it looks something like this:
Ok, picture the above scene, but with some snow.

I've discovered a secret...

I have discovered where all of the hot girls in Stavanger hang out: the gym. Now I have an incentive to go.

That said, it's tough to look cool while lifting 10lb weights. I'm toning for endurance; yeah, that's it. At least that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

There are white sand beaches in Norway?!

Why yes, there are!

And they're nice, too!

But if you want to go to the beach, you have to go by horse. Really.

Matt likes the beach. That's why he's smiling. He also speaks in the third person for some reason.

This is the height of the sun at 1:30 PM.

I think this sign means "Yield to Pigs". Seriously, check it out.

A week or two ago I took a trip out to Sola beach, which is a beach to the south west of Stavanger, and located right next to the airport (which is appropriately named "Sola Airport"). Lada, an IT project manager from the Vancouver office, was visiting Stavanger, so we hijacked the pool car and took a drive out of the city. I must say, it was great to get out of the city, even if it was only for a few hours.

The beaches here are all fine white sand, but with some rocky areas. If the weather were a little warmer, it would an amazing beach to go to for a swim in the summer. That said, people were surfing at most of the beaches we visited. They suit up in 1 inch full body wetsuits and brave the negative temperatures for some pretty good waves.
