The other Oilers, and things completely unrelated

Before I embarked on my "trek" to Norway, my Mom made the effort to research the professional hockey situation in the lovely city of Stavanger. What she discovered is that Stavanger has a rather appropriately named hockey team - the Oilers (go figure). Being Canadian and all, I decided before I got here that I really wanted to go to as soon as I arrived. I proceeded to tell everyone in the office this, but of course, I never really did anything about it. Apparently I'm all talk. Until now, that is.

Out of the blue, two of my co-workers were given tickets to the game and invited me along. I can now claim to have been to a Stavanger Oilers game, and you know what? It wasn't half bad! As expected the pace was slower, and the hitting less intense, but the game was entertaining and the skill level higher than I had expected. That and I was able to yell at the refs, because they really were terrible.

Apparently Norwegians like hockey. Or at least they pretend to, just to humour me.

Stavanger is in White. The other team is dressed like a Christmas tree.

Awww, they even shake hands after the game. It's like Duffers, but with marginally better refs! (I'm kidding, I like Duffers! Please don't hit me again!)

So the countdown is on for my triumphant return to Canada. With my "thank God it's finally approved" visa firmly stamped in my passport, I will leave Stavanger in the wee hours of Friday morning morning for a 20+ hour voyage to the lovely Okanagan. If you haven't ever been to the Okanagan, it looks something like this:
Ok, picture the above scene, but with some snow.
